School of the Future partner City of Stuttgart received an award in the category building renovation for the energy concept of a school renovation project. The Uhland Schule in Stuttgart-Rot is currently being renovated to become a plus energy school and will as such generate more energy through a geothermal heat pump and PV modules in an annual balance than the building will use for heating, ventilation, hot water, lighting and school equipment. The prize of 15.000 € was awarded by a multi-disciplinary jury on behalf of the German Ministry of Economy and Energy. The award ceremony took place during the Berlin Energy Days on 20 May 2014. Further information on the award ceremony and the energy concept is available.
The City of Stuttgart participates as demonstration partner in School of the Future with another school renovation project, the Solitude Gymnasium in Stuttgart Weilimdorf. Read the building diary summarising the actual renovation work here .
